A junior to mid-tier mining company focused on the extraction of manganese ore and fines, Tawana Hotazel Mining (Pty) Limited was founded in 2020 and is owned entirely by people of African descent.

The Tawana Hotazel Mine is located on a portion of farm Hotazel 280, about 80 kilometres Northwest of Kuruman, in the South African Kalahari Basin. The mining right covers 145.1 hectares and was transferred from South32 in 2022.

The mine produces approximately 45Kt of high-grade manganese ore per month. The ore is trucked from site to the Transnet-owned Lohatlha siding for transportation by rail for bulk export out of Port Elizabeth harbour for China.

The company’s headquarters are in Johannesburg.
